Southern Miss Baseball Signee Named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A.J. Glasshof, a Southern Miss baseball signee for the 2013 season, was named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week by the publication on Monday.

Glasshof, of Sugar Land, Texas, pitched a 9-inning no-hitter for San Jacinto Junior Community College in a 3-0 win over Blinn Junior College last week. The left-hander struck out 12 batters and faced just three over the minimum.

During the game, San Jacinto recorded five double plays and made several other spectacular defensive plays. In addition, the no-hitter gave his team’s head coach, Tom Arrington, his 500th career victory.

This season Glasshof has tallied a 3-0 record with a 1.33 earned run average. He has 30 strikeouts and just eight walks, while allowing 14 hits over 27 innings of work for San Jacinto in four appearances.
